LCR Photography Awards
Liverpool’s first Liverpool City Region photography award, LCR23, is taking place at the Open Eye Gallery in Mann Island between 10th March - 23rd April. Pretence went along to the launch event on Friday 10th March, and what a launch it was. The gallery was packed with photographers, creatives and enthusiasts, all sharing a mutual appreciation for the offerings from Liverpool photographers.
Nina Ijomone - An Octopus out of Water
In our Quixotic themed fourth issue, Nina Ijomone's submission wowed us. The striking images, centred around an octopus, left us asking questions and wanting to know more, this was a significant advance on a fish out of water.
Federico Renzaglia - Sumo
A photograph of Sumo, by Federico Renzaglia, took the front cover of our Autumn 22 ‘illicit’ issue.
Dressed only in underwear, Sumo stands astride two pillars. Arms out wide a smirking Sumo proudly shows himself off. Here I am.
Sarah Grounds - BODY & BBA One Shot Award
Sarah Grounds’ excellent BODY project work is our first offering of the ‘illicit’ Open Call feature in the Autumn 22 issue of Pretence. The images explore the complicated and often contradictory relationship between body and societal perceptions.
Leslie Norman - Wings of Flight
Based in Ohio, USA, Leslie Norman’s brilliant submission features in the Autumn 22 ‘illicit’ Open Call of Pretence. Norman has also had one of her photographs, Wings of Flight, selected for the ‘Grayscale’ exhibition at the Decode Gallery, Ohio.
